Post-Graduation in management offers a promising career to students who want to go for higher studies. Students who want a diploma in management course, should go for either PGDM or PGDBM. The universities or affiliated colleges which are approved by AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) provides you the PGDM course.To pursue PGDM, there are plethora of colleges providing full-time PGDM course, but one should choose the one that is widely known as, the importance of the college can not be over-looked in defining your career. Any graduate from any recognized university is eligible to give the entrance exam for PGDM. There are many entrance exams for assessing candidates, among which a student can make a choice. MAT exam is one such exam, which is conducted all over India for the admission in courses like MBA, MBA+PGDM, PGDBA/PGDMB. Other such entrance exams for MBA are CAT, IIFT, XAT, GMAT, SMAP, TANCET, NMAT, IBSTA, IRMA, MNCET, etc. Meanwhile a new exam CMAT 2012 (Common Management Entrance Testy) is going to be conducted for first time by AICTE, for the year 2012-2013.

All the business schools in India accept score of at least one of these above mentioned entrance exams. The entrance exam for MBA is a written exam, that basically checks the aptitude of the candidate in four/five major areas like- verbal ability, quantitative ability, logical reasoning & data interpretation & reading comprehension. Some entrance exams also checks the General Awareness of a candidate. The level of toughness may vary from one entrance exams. The candidate has to go for GD/PI. GD (Group Discussion) & PI(Personal Interview) are conducted to assess leadership qualities, IQ Level, grasping abilities, communication skills etc. in a candidate. And the selection are based on the aggregate score of written exam & the GD/PI. Candidates with work experience are given weightage in some of the institutes.

Once a student is enrolled in MBA college, a student can decide his /her area of specialization among Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, IT/ System, Management, real estate, insurance & risk management, rural management, agri-business, hospitality & tourism.
